Take two hours for yourself to relax, get creative and connect with others in a welcoming, friendly space. Find Your Centre is a free workshop combining the soothing sounds of a live sound bath with the creative joy of mandala painting. No artistic skills or meditation experience are needed, just come as you are, and enjoy trying something new! We’ll begin with a 40-minute sound bath, using singing bowls, chimes and other instruments to create a calming atmosphere. You can sit or lie comfortably, close your eyes and let the sounds wash over you, giving yourself a chance to slow down, release tension and quieten your mind. Feeling relaxed, we’ll move on to mandala painting. You’ll choose a design and bring it to life with colours and patterns on a canvas pad. As you paint, you’ll discover the fascinating story of mandalas, from ancient stone circles and Celtic spirals to Indian and Tibetan art, Islamic geometric patterns and the beautiful circles found throughout nature. There’s no right or wrong way to paint. You’ll be supported throughout, so you can take your time, follow your intuition and enjoy the process without worrying about the result. The repetitive patterns and colours can help you focus, feel more present and express yourself creatively, even when words are hard to find. We’ll finish with a 15-minute sharing circle, where you can show your artwork, share your experience and connect with others, if you wish. There’s no pressure to speak, you’re welcome simply to listen. You’ll take your finished mandala home, along with some simple breathing techniques to help you find moments of calm in everyday life. All materials are provided and eco-friendly.This event is supported by the City of Edinburgh Council & Fair Saturday Edinburgh Community Engagement Fund
